Vincent Leow ( born 1961)
Rhapsody of Non-sense is an exhibition highlighting Singaporean Vincent Leow’s considerable body of works on paper. Included in the exhibition are neo-expressionist tempera on paper pieces from 1989, gouache on paper works in garish clashing hues from the 1990s and early 2000s, elegant black ink pieces completed last year and his most recently completed pencil portraits. A distinct feature of his practice is that so many ideas and motifs generated as drawings on paper are ferried into his canvas and sculptural works, showing how intimately linked drawing is to other branches of his production. As one of the most direct medium available, drawing becomes the site of Vincent’s most important pictorial experimentations and resolutions.
